mcc covid information

Cricket in a pandemic is a privilege. Get in, Train/Play, Get Out.

This is Cricket Victoria's overarching principle for season 2021/2022. Here you will find COVID policies and information for staying safe and abiding by the required guidelines for season 2021/2022.

As always, the club and competition is beholden to State Government, Cricket Victoria and BHRDCA announcements and restrictions, so all dates are subject to change.

Latest guidelines

Cricket Victoria released their latest "best practice" guidelines, along with a "flow chart" for how to handle a positive COVID case, or when a player is identified as a close/social contact during match play. You can find that document here.

MCC would like to remind all players of their obligations in line with CV guidelines and state government requirements:

  • If you are experiencing symptoms, do not train or play. Get tested and isolate until you receive a negative result. If you are unable to train or play, please contact your captain.

  • Masks are required for everyone above the age of 8 in all indoor environments. MCC encourages people to spend as much time outdoors as possible (maintaining 1.5m distancing)

  • Minimize physical contact during training and match day. This includes no high fives, handshakes, team huddles etc

  • No saliva or sweat to be used to shine the ball during matches/training

  • Practice good hygiene, including hand sanitization.

  • Mandatory QR code check-ins at all home and away facilities

  • No sharing of food, drinks, equipment etc

COVID Officers & Contacts

The club committee has nominated a "COVID Committee" to understand and implement the operational requirements that a return to cricket requires. This committee plus other nominated individuals (Captains, Junior Committee etc) are the club's COVID Officers, and have undertaken the government COVID-19 Infection Control training.

At training, your first point of contact should be the net captain, or the appropriate contact for your group (as listed below) -Adam Johnson or Matt Stafford or Steven Leslie for seniors, and Steve Tully or Nick Oakes for juniors.

On match day, your first point of contact is your captain. If your captain is unsure then one of the senior contacts will be the match-day contact where questions/issues can be escalated.

If you have any general enquiries about the MCC COVID Plan, the club's processes/implementation etc, please email covid@mitcham.cc
