In Madison County, individuals access services through the Coordinated Entry System - a collaborative process that connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness—or at risk of becoming homeless—with appropriate housing and services. Using a standardized assessment, the system helps identify each household’s level of need and prioritizes referrals based on vulnerability and available resources.

Participation in the Coordinated Entry process does not guarantee immediate placement into housing. Coordinated Entry is a referral and prioritization system, not a waiting list. Households are assessed to determine their level of vulnerability and need, and referrals to available housing programs are made as resources become available. Because housing resources are limited, some participants may remain on the prioritization list for an extended period or may not receive a housing referral through Coordinated Entry.
