Here are a few items of clarification. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Water Bottles:
Your child will receive a plastic water bottle. If they would like to bring a water bottle from home, they are more than welcome to do so.
Snacks:
Students are encouraged to bring a HEALTHY snack to enjoy during milk break. The snack may be individual or for the class. If you would like to send a class snack, (Example: a box of crackers or pretzels to share), that would be a welcomed treat.
Phy. Ed.:
We have P.E. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please send your child to school with gym shoes on those days.
Planner:
You may notice that some assignments are written with the initials WS. WS stands for “worksheet.” Please sign your child’s planner each evening (once you have checked over their work). Incomplete homework will result in a warning and will need to be finished during a class work time or prior to recess.
Library:
Our library day is Tuesday. We will start checking out books the 2nd week of school. Students are allowed to check out 3 books.
Reading:
Students should read a minimum of 15 minutes each night, 4 nights a week. After your child has read 15 minutes, please sign the reading slip and record the number of reading minutes in their assignment notebook. Until we are able to check out books from the school library, your child can read a book from home or borrow a book from our classroom library. Reading minutes are part of their daily homework requirement.
Book Orders:
I will be sending home a set of book orders each month. PLEASE do not feel obligated to order. Our class earns points for each book ordered. The points are used to purchase books for our classroom library. Checks can be made payable to SCHOLASTIC. Books can also be ordered online. Please see the note stapled to the first book order.
Transportation Reminders:
Any time that your child will be going home in a different way than usual, please write a note in the assignment notebook, send an email, or call the office. It is a school policy that all children will go home in their usual manner unless the school is notified by a parent.
Folders:
Your child has a take home folder that needs to go home each night and come back to school in the morning. We labeled the folder RETURN TO SCHOOL and KEEP AT HOME. Please check the folder daily.
Birthday Treats:
Your child is welcome to bring a treat on their birthday. There are no food allergies in our room that I am aware of. If that changes I will let you know. If your child has a summer birthday they are welcome to bring a treat on their half birthday or at the end of the school year.
