Class overview

Welcome to 7th Grade Science! I am very excited to kick off the 2020-2021 school year! This yearlong course will cover a variety of topics in life sciences. I am eager to get to work with you, our 7th grade scholars, and help you prepare academically and socially for 8th grade and beyond!

Just like every school year, I will hold all scholars to high expectations academically, socially, and behaviorally. My vision for you includes engaging you in truly rigorous academics that first, build upon existing knowledge, as this will lead to critical and deeper levels of scientific thinking. Secondly, when scholars can identify with science and relate what we are learning to your daily lives and future aspirations, you can take control of your own learning and truly make sense of the world around you. Through continuous collaboration with scholars, teachers, administrators, and families, I know you will all be successful.

Success in 7th grade goes beyond just academics; I also envision personal growth for all scholars. My vision for our class is that you learn how to “think like a scientist” and ask important questions about the world around you. I hope to instill in you a mindset that will help you take responsibility for your own academic journey and navigate the world around you in order to open up a wide range of opportunities for you later in high school, college, and beyond.

All the while having FUN!!

About me

A little about me…

I am a father of two college students (boys) ages 21 and 22, and a husband to one amazing woman who is also a teacher and teaches 8th grade English.

I am a University of Texas Pan American graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, I also recently obtained my Master’s degree from Walden University in Instruction, Curriculum and Assessment.

I fell in love with teaching while substituting through college and have made education my life’s career. I love seeing those "aha" moments in my student’s eyes as they light up!

I look forward in getting to know each of you and listening to your amazing stories!
