How long can my project submission be?
All submissions, regardless of format (video, podcast, demonstration, etc.), must be no longer than 10 minutes.
What should students submit if they are creating a robot or a similar project that cannot be physically submitted?
For projects that cannot be physically submitted, such as robots or 3D-printed creations, students should submit a video (up to 10 minutes) showcasing and explaining their work.
They will have the opportunity to showcase their project live at the Innovation Expo on March 1st.
What is the format for presentations at the Innovation Expo?
There will be two formats of presentations at the Innovation Expo:
Inspiration Gallery: All participants will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations to the community in a format similar to a GT or Science Fair. Projects will be displayed at individual tables, allowing visitors to walk around, explore different exhibits, and engage with you as you present your work.
Innovation Expo Finals: If you or your group is selected as one of the top three finalists in your category, you will present your project to a panel of judges. After the judging concludes, the showcase will open for visitors to explore and enjoy the exhibits.
How will the projects be judged?
All submissions will be evaluated in the first round by judges using the provided rubric criteria. The top 3 submissions in each grade band and category will advance to live judging at the Innovation Expo, where they will be assessed by a different group of judges.
Should the presentations be displayed digitally on a laptop screen or presented using a poster board?
Presentations should be fully digital and displayed on a laptop screen, set up on a table at the Innovation Expo.
What are the guidelines for the presentation format?
If your submission is selected as a top 3 finalist, it will be judged live at the Innovation Expo Finals. Finalists will have 5 minutes to present their project, followed by 3 minutes for questions from the judges.
All other presentations will take place continuously throughout the event. Students will have a designated table with their laptop to showcase their projects to visitors attending the Innovation Expo.
Will there be Q&A opportunities with judges?
When presenting at the Innovation Expo, you can talk with visitors who come by your table, similar to a science fair.
For live judging, there will be time for questions at the end of your presentation as needed.
Will there be feedback provided after the presentation, regardless of whether we win or not?
Depending on time, feedback may or may not be provided from the judges.
