The Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital-Claveria was formerly known as Claveria Municipal Hospital, built in the year 1990, on a lot donated to the DOH by the Municipality of Claveria under the leadership of former Mayor Antonio P. Calingin. It started its operation on June 16, 1992, as a 10-bed Level I Hospital under DOH. This move of the Municipal Officials was geared toward providing its constituents with more accessible and affordable health options to the Claveriahanons as it is composed of 24 Barangays mostly situated in its hinterland. The Hospital was accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance in 2006 and is an active member of the Philippine Hospital Association. It is also a mother-baby-friendly hospital advocate.
In 1993, under the devolution act under the provision of Republic Act 7160 or Local Government Code of 1991, the management of the hospital was turned over to the local government of Misamis Oriental. The hospital was reclassified as a Primary Care Facility under the new DOH reclassification in 2012 under AO number 2012-0012 also known as “Rules and Regulation Governing the new Classification of Hospitals and other Health Facilities in the Phil.”. The hospital has functional Emergency Service, DR Services, OPD, Minor Surgical Services, OB-Gyne Services, Medical Services, Pediatric Services, Primary laboratory, and Pharmacy which caters to the constituents of Claveria and its sister municipalities belonging to CLAJAVITA and other neighboring areas including Malitbog, Bukidnon which is only 39.9 km away.
