On 22-23 February 2020, the IBDP VA 2021 class joined an art workshop in Gudskul, South Jakarta. Over the two-day course we learnt four different art mediums with artists and teachers.
We learnt resin sculpture and spray painting on the first day. In resin sculpture, we used a safe and moldable resin on a figurine model. To activate the resin we had to combine two equal parts of the resin mixture. The resin air dry-ed quickly and we finished the figure with paint. Each of us produced a unique figurine at the end despite the same base model. Spray painting was after a lunch break. We divided the class into three teams to make three different murals.
We continued with assemblage sculpture and video mapping on the second day. Assemblage sculpture is the art of forming sculpture using scrap materials and metals. We created sculptures with a variety of subjects like dragons, houses, fans, and robots from a pile of scraps. Last on our agenda is video mapping. Using a software, we projected videos on 3D surfaces. We used our favorite artists music videos (like Rihanna and Reality Club) to demonstrate video mapping.
