Donuts with Doulas is a casual, speed-dating–style event where expecting parents can meet multiple local doulas in one place. You’ll rotate through short, one-on-one conversations with independent doulas to learn about their services, experience, and approach—without having to schedule multiple separate consultations.
There’s no pressure to hire anyone at the event. This is simply a chance to connect, ask questions, and see who feels like the right fit.
Not exactly. These are brief, informal conversations designed to give you a feel for different doulas. If you connect with someone, you can schedule a full consultation with them after the event.
Not at all. This event is for all expecting families—first-time parents, seasoned parents, VBAC families, planned cesarean births, home births, hospital births, and everything in between.
A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
Doulas support all types of birth desires, including:
Hospital, home, and birth center births
Unmedicated, medicated, and epidural-supported births
Planned cesarean and VBAC births
Doulas do not replace medical providers. Instead, they work alongside your care team to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in your choices.
Doula fees vary based on experience, services offered, and availability. In our local area, most full-service birth doulas charge between $1,000–$1,800.
While every doula is a little different, most birth doula support includes:
Prenatal appointments to build a relationship, discuss preferences, and prepare for birth
Being on call for your birth around your due date
Continuous labor and birth support
At least one postpartum visit
Ongoing resources, education, and emotional support throughout the process
You’ll have the chance to ask doulas more specific questions!
Great question—and don’t worry, you don’t need a script. Some helpful questions might include:
What types of births do you most often support?
How do you support partners/the birth team during labor?
How do you handle long labors or unexpected changes and how will you uphold my birth plan?
How would you describe your approach or philosophy?
What resources do you have prepared for us if we need them?
What do you love about your work as a doula?
Pro tip: Notice how you feel during the conversation. Connection, comfort, and trust matter just as much as answers.
Yes. Because this event runs in a speed-dating format, we ask that you arrive during your selected time slot so rotations can stay organized and fair for everyone.
Arriving on time helps ensure you get the full experience and don’t miss any conversations.
Babies in arms are welcome. Due to space and the structure of the event, we’re unable to accommodate older children at this time.
Nope! There’s absolutely no obligation to hire anyone. This event is about learning, connection, and exploration. Many families use it as a first step before scheduling full consultations later.
No. All participating doulas are independent. Donuts with Doulas is a collaborative community event, not an agency or referral service.
Yes! Partners and support people are encouraged. Birth is a team effort, and we love when spouses come together to explore their options.
That’s exactly why this event exists. You don’t need to be “sold” on doulas to attend. Come curious, ask questions, eat a donut, and see what resonates.
