Media Center

Checkout Information

Students in K- 5th will check out books on their scheduled visit once a week (Monday - Friday).

Middle grade students can visit in the mornings between 8 and 8:30.  They can also schedule visits with teacher approval.

Kindergarten students may begin checking out books during the 2nd semester and are required to keep their library books in their classrooms.

(K - 5) Library books are due back on a student's next scheduled visit.

Students are allowed to renew books but are required to bring them to the media center to do so.

Overdues

Minneola Charter does not charge daily fines for late materials, but we do hold students accountable for the items that they check out.  If a book is lost or seriously damaged, students are asked to pay the original purchase price of that material.  Overdue notices are sent home with the students when necessary.

Student Agreement

(Students in grades 3-5 are also asked to sign a copy of the Student Agreement written below at the beginning of each school year)

I have been instructed in careful and respectful handling of books.  I understand it is a privilege to use the library and the materials in it.  I agree to enjoy and return all library books that I borrow on time and in good condition.  I know that if I lose or damage a library book, I am responsible for paying the original cost of that book.  I also understand, if there is an overdue/lost book from last year, I will not be allowed to check out until the book(s) have been returned or paid for.

Relevant Materials Use

In the Media Center, we plan and implement lessons utilizing the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards. Throughout the year, lessons will follow holidays, and cultural, current, and historical events that are grade level and age appropriate. We often integrate math, science, and social studies standards in media lessons in order to engage students in cross curricular learning.

We only utilize approved books from the Lake County Destiny site and those that have been approved by the Minneola Charter Book Committee. Please feel free to take a look at the Destiny link to see what is available to use during lessons.

If there are any questions, please reach out via my e-mail, or the FOCUS application.
