Food Pantries and Programs

Watertown Food Pantry is open to any Watertown resident in need on Tuesdays 10 am to 2 pm. More info...

Food Pantry at American Legion Nonantum Post 440 located 295 California Street, Newton (617) 244-0440 is open on third Fridays from 10-11 AM.

Catholic Coalition Food Pantry located at Sacred Heart Parish at 770 Mt. Auburn St., has reopened to Watertown residents on Thursdays from 10 AM-11:45 AM.

Centre Street Food Pantry in Newton is providing pre-packed bags of groceries to their service community which includes Watertown. New families should register before shopping. Open Tuesdays from 4 pm- 6:30 pm. More info...

St. Paul Parish Food Pantry located at 29 Mt. Auburn St. in Cambridge distributes prepacked bags of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, desserts, and nonperishable items. Anyone is welcome to come and pick up a bag between 10:00 and 12:00 on Saturdays in the courtyard outside the church.

Springwell Home Delivered Meals offers meals to people over 60 who meet certain eligibility requirements. More info...

Federal Benefits

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is available for eligible people and families. For assistance applying for SNAP benefits contact Watertown's Social Services Resource Specialist.

The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) helps you to access more produce (fruits, vegetables, herbs, and seedlings) from participating farmers’ markets, mobile markets, farm stands, and CSA’s, using your SNAP benefits. Qualifying purchases will be instantly added back to your SNAP balance, to use immediately or at another time. All SNAP recipients are automatically enrolled in HIP, regardless of their monthly SNAP benefit amount. More info about using HIP here. You can use SNAP and HIP at the Watertown Farmers' Market!
