Welcome
Dear Students/Parents/Community Members,
The 2020-2021 school year was a year we will always remember. Through the midst of a global pandemic, we were able to safely reopen our schools for students and staff and resume a sense of normalcy despite face coverings, lots of hand sanitizer, and our best efforts to practice social distancing. Through it all, we proved resilient and our efforts generated great outcomes for the students that we serve.
Academics, athletics, band, cheerleading, FFA, and other extracurricular programs excelled throughout the school year. Our greatest fear, that students would be behind academically, from closing school in March of 2020 never materialized. Through the collective efforts of our directors, administrators, teachers, students, parents/guardians, and community, we were able to keep our doors open, accelerate learning, and perform extremely well in many areas of the state assessments given in the spring of 2021.
As we closed out the 2020-2021 school year, the Mineola ISD Board of Trustees signed a historic partnership agreement with Tyler Junior College to launch the Mineola-TJC Promise Scholarship. This Promise Scholarship will allow students starting in the Class of 2025 to earn a scholarship to attend TJC for credits toward a four year degree, an associates degree, or an industry trade certificate with minimum to zero student debt. The requirements are attainable for all students who will make a commitment to show up to school, act right, and work hard.
Exciting times are ahead for Mineola ISD as we continue to explore ways for school improvement. Our goal is to become the best public school district in East Texas and we know that is not possible without the staff, students, parents, and community working as one. Thank you for being our partner in this journey and may we always be encouraged that the best is yet to come.
If I can ever be of assistance to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me via email or phone at your convenience. Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. It is the greatest honor of my professional career.
My Best,
J. Cody Mize
Superintendent
