The mission is to help those struggling with communication gain perspective of others and build on problem solving skills. Through the therapeutic relationship we can learn from experiences and work towards healthy pathways, while strengthening: fortitude, perseverance, and resilience.
There are days
when the lights flicker
and then I remember
I am the light
I go in and
switch it back on

Services and Specialties
Mindful Minds Counseling offers several approaches to psychotherapy to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Below are the models that are pulled from in an eclectic approach to therapy in office or via telehealth.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy
The approach to therapy is underlined by a cognitive behavioral model that functions to change thinking patterns, helping you to recognize and reevaluate distortions in thought processes. This model of therapy works to gain better understanding of issues present and work towards developing a unique set of skills to manage difficult situations. Together we will work to develop a greater sense of confidence in your abilities through the understanding of the relationship of our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
Dialect Behavioral Therapy
DBT is especially effective for individuals with difficulty regulating and managing emotions. DBT is a type of CBT with focus on relationships, goals, and values. In DBT we learn the value of interpersonal relationships. A mindful approach to limit behaviors that may get in the way of growth. DBT skills can be applied in long term and short-term goals by bringing awareness to what contributes to discomfort and process changes towards comfort in healthy ways. When uncomfortable we often seek the quickest way to comfort; unfortunately for many those methods typically lead to greater issues such as: toxic relationships, addictions, self-harm, ideation, and even inability to experience comfort feelings in return repeating the cycle of unhealthy coping in efforts to feel.
Trauma Focused
A trauma focused approach to therapy addresses suffering associated with destructive effects of early trauma. It is particularly sensitive to unique problems of youth and post-traumatic stress. Incidents that can lead to trauma may take the form of: abuse (sexual, emotional, and physical), domestic violence, combat, illness, neglect, poverty, or near death experiences (direct, secondary, or witness). The impact of trauma can be subtle, hidden, or destructive. This approach to therapy works towards stabilization of presenting symptoms by telling the story of your traumatic experience to consolidate lessons and skills in an effort to prepare for success.
Mindfulness-Based
MBCT is an approach to therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices, which include breathing exercises and meditation. The focus of this approach to therapy is to learn to be in the here and now, breaking away from negative thinking which contributes to disengagement. This approach works to helps all ages engage in whole mind reasoning, moving away from running on emotion, forcing stimulation of the brain.
Internal Family Systems
IFS is an approach to therapy that identifies and addresses sub-personalities within a person's mental system. Sub-personalities consist of wounded parts and emotions such as shame and anger, that attempt to control and protect individuals from the pain of the wounded parts. Different parts of the self come out in efforts of self-preservation to protect. The issue comes when we don't know how to express our emotions, we hush anger, guilt, or sadness due to its discomfort, sedate it, but forget to tune in to what is needed. How do you feel when you are told to stop talking? The focus of this approach is to integrate and heal the wounded fragments of oneself in order to produce harmony and balance through understanding of oneself and our needs.
I also specialize in multicultural, life coaching, and positive psychology therapy.
Hello,
Over the last 15 years of working with children and families I have found myself at different levels of care. I had the pleasure of being a tenured School Counselor at varying levels of education, from Elementary to High School. During this time with families I have assisted over thousands of youths gain unique insight and clarity. In addition to counseling in education, worked alongside parents in decreasing anxiety, depression, and conflict with their children as an Intensive In Community Therapist in homes. Presently, as a Mental Health Clinician at Rutgers UBHC Partial Hospitalization Program I work towards showing patients how to lift the weight off their shoulders in order to find their place in the world. During my time working with teens we have confronted varying topics from bullying (aggressor and victims), grief, gender identity, addictions, and traumas.
Prior to my career in mental health I worked in research. First at Yeshiva University as a Clinical Interviewer for the SWAN Study; there explored the life long female journey into menopause, comparing and contrasting women from varying races. Then while working at Rutgers University PAGE Study as a Program Coordinator, I decided to embark in my journey into counseling to work through some of the barriers that contributed to those adversely affected. That decision lead me to seek my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master of Education in Counseling Services from Rider University.
I was born and raised in North Jersey, presently living in the Princeton area. Being a mother of three children with varying special needs has aided me in learning how to find comfort in what others might consider uncomfortable settings. Together we can identify your abilities in order to hurdle through barriers, look at things from different angles, and gain insight on how to heal and grow.... emotionally, mentally, and spiritually in a holistic scope.

I bring fresh showers for the thirsting flowers,
From the seas and the streams
I bear light shade for the leaves when laid
In their noon-day dreams.
From my wings are shaken the dews that waken
The sweet birds every one,
When rocked to rest on their mother's breast,
As she dances about the sun.
I wield the flail of the lashing hail,
And whiten the green plains under,
And then again I dissolve it in rain,
And laugh as I pass in thunder.
