Week two started in Wood River for the whippets as they traveled to take on the Eagles. The team wrestled well, but ultimately could not overcome five open weights as they fell 60-24. McKinley Segelke, Brinley Pohl, Keira Crane, and Cristal Gonzalez all notched wins, with the latter two scoring a takedown and then multiple near fall before settling in to get the pin. With the fall, Keira also moved into a tie with Savannah Koch for fifth-place in career pins with 35.
The whippets will travel to the Crete Invitational on Saturday, featuring four ranked class A schools and many of the Eastern Nebraska area teams.
