General Fall Protection - This course provides an overview of fall protection, including legislative requirements, specific fall arrest terminology, types of fall protection equipment and use, determining when fall protection is required, and hazards associated with working at heights, how to complete a fall protection work-entry plan. Participants can expect to be briefly suspended in a harness.
Confined Space Entry - This course provides an overview of confined spaces and the importance of planning an entry. Topics include legislative requirements, identifying hazards and controls, atmospheric testing, emergency response plans, signage and tagging, and filling out a confined space entry plan.
Basic Hoisting/Rigging Safety - This comprehensive course provides a thorough background in rigging, focusing on legislative requirements, workplace hazards, and controls, rigging equipment and techniques, signaling, rope and equipment inspection, calculating rigging loads, and maintenance and storage of equipment.
WHMIS 2015 (GHS) - Canada has aligned the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) for WHMIS 2015 legislation. This course addresses the WHMIS 2015 education requirements for workers to understand the hazards and know how to work safely with hazardous products. The current education and training requirements that fall under the WHMIS-related occupational health and safety regulations for Saskatchewan are also addressed in this course. Note: Employers are still responsible for providing workers with site-and-job-specific training and information.
Fire Extinguisher Training Course - This class is a four-hour program that covers the basic types of fires and the chemistry involved in the extinguishment of those fires. The students will be trained on how to inspect and use a handheld fire extinguisher on a live fire system. Upon completing the course, the student will receive a wallet certificate.
Transportation of Dangerous Goods: This class provides an overview of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Act and regulations for employees and others who need to know about TDG. It includes information about your responsibilities for transporting dangerous goods, especially for training and certification of company personnel. It will also help you understand the purpose of the TDG Act and Regulations.
OH&S Level 1 for Committee Members
Level 1 Occupational Health Committee (OHC) Training is an introductory course for OHC members and occupational health and safety representatives (reps). By the end of this two-day course, OHC members and reps will know the following:
How to locate relevant information in Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation to address occupational health and safety (OHS) issues in their workplace
The requirements for establishing and operating an effective OHC
The duties and role of the OHC within the OHS Workplace Responsibility System
How to identify and assess workplace hazards
How to identify and recommend corrective actions to control workplace hazards
How to handle OHS concerns and investigate refusals to work
There is no pre-requisite for attending this course.
OH&S Level 2 Incident Investigations and Inspections
Level 2 Occupational Health Committee (OHC) Training is a course for OHC Co-Chairpersons and occupational health and safety representatives (Reps), although all OHC members would benefit from attending. By the end of this two-day course, participants will know how to:
Plan and conduct an OHC workplace inspection
Identify and assess deficiencies during OHC workplace inspections
Identify and recommend corrective actions to address deficiencies found during OHC workplace inspections
Fulfill their regulatory requirement to investigate workplace accidents and dangerous occurrences
Collect and analyze evidence during an investigation
Identify and assess direct, indirect, and root causes of workplace accidents and dangerous occurrences
How to Identify and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence of workplace accidents and dangerous occurrences
Pre-requisite for attending this course is Level 1 Occupational Health Committee Training.
OH&S Supervisor Training
Upon successfully completing the Supervision & Safety Training – Train the Trainer Workshop, participants will be certified to conduct Supervision & Safety Training at their workplaces. By the end of this two-day workshop, participants will know how to:
How to locate relevant information in Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation to address occupational health and safety (OHS) issues in their workplace
The duties and roles of everyone within the OHS Workplace Responsibility System
Their duties and required competencies under Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation
The role of the supervisor within workplace OHS management systems
Specific duties of a supervisor within workplace OHS management systems such as:
Hazard identification, risk assessment, and hazard control
Workplace inspections
Incident Investigations
Refusals to work
Worker training and orientation
Deliver and facilitate Supervision & Safety Training.
