Your School Counselor is here to help you navigate through your college application process. We can help you:

  • Create a list of colleges to research that is based on your interests and on the characteristics of each college.

  • Understand college admissions requirements.

  • Send necessary documents to the colleges you are applying for, such as transcripts, fee waivers, and letters of recommendation.

  • Apply for Scholarships/Financial Aid that will help you pay for your college expenses.

Parchment

Parchment is your resource for sending student transcripts to Colleges that you are applying to. Every MPS student has free access to send their transcripts to as many colleges as they need to. Please see your Counselor to get your registration code.

Common App

The Common Application is a single online college application form used by over 900 colleges and universities. Instead of filling out the same general information—like your address, GPA, and extracurriculars— a dozen times, you only have to do it once.

UW-System Common App

Similar to the general Common App., the UW-System app allows you to apply to multiple schools within the University of Wisconsin collegiate system with one application.

Common Black College App

Similar to the general Common App., the Common Black College App allows you to apply to 67 different HBCU schools paying one $20 application fee.

The FAFSA

To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free and easier than ever, and it gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to pay for college or career school.

In addition, many states and colleges use your FAFSA information to determine your eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.
