I grew up in a small town in Minnesota called Austin where I lived until I moved to Minneapolis, MN for college. In 2019 I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Minnesota and my Master's degree in Education in 2021.
Becoming a teacher has been a goal of mine since I was 5 years old. As nerdy as that sounds, helping others learn about and make sense of the world around us is something I find super exciting! My favorite part about teaching science is getting to explore with my students the ways in which science and society are connected through examining the history of science and investigating phenomena happening around the world.
This is my third year teaching as an official teacher but I've had opportunities to teach middle school physical science, high school biology, as well as zoology courses at the University of Minnesota.
Outside of school, I like catching up with friends at coffee shops, listening to music (mostly R&B, pop, and country), visiting my parents at the cabin, and running. I really enjoy traveling and some of my favorite places to visit are San Francisco and Italy. I love to read because I think reading is a great way to learn as well as escape reality for a moment. Some of the books I'm reading this year are Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, and The Body: A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson.
