Ms. Novara's Schedule
Biography:
I was not someone who always knew I wanted to be a teacher. While playing school was one of my favorite things to do as a child, I wasn't convinced that I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of animals, I considered being a veterinarian, and because of my love of sports and of helping others, I also considered being a physical therapist. It was through playing school; however, that I first learned that I enjoyed teaching people new skills, strategies and ideas. At 12, I was a volunteer assistant swim instructor. Teaching the young students was incredibly rewarding, especially when the students achieved a skill that they thought they wouldn't. This experience led me to being a swim instructor and a camp counselor. It was during my freshmen year of college that I began re-evaluating what I wanted to do. Through my previous jobs, I knew I loved working with students of all ages. I also enjoyed reading, thinking and writing, and I'd always believed education to be both important and powerful since education helps to ensure our understanding of material given to us, of the world around us, and of ourselves. In addition, being educated keeps others from taking advantage of us. All of these factors led me to becoming an English teacher. Now, I'm ready to start my twelfth year at Pulaski and my 20th year as an educator.
Teaching hasn't been my first experience with MPS, however, I graduated from Rufus King High School in 1999 before attending UW-Milwaukee and completing my student teaching at both Townsend Street School and Custer High School. After graduating, I taught in Shorewood and in Illinois before coming back home to MPS, and since being back to MPS, I've taught at both Vincent and J-MAC before coming to Pulaski.
This year I'll be teaching DP Language & Literature 1 & 2, and MYP Intro to Design & Tech. Please click on the drop down menu above to view information specific to the course, including the syllabus and general course expectations.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you this year.
