Creating a school-wide culture of literacy continues to be a priority for the faculty, staff, and administration at Pierce Middle School. Summer is the perfect time to find books and texts to read for pleasure. The resources and lists below are meant to be a starting point to help you select books that match your interests and include a variety of titles across many genres, levels, lengths, and platforms.
The goal of this summer’s reading assignment is to engage all students in meaningful literacy experiences while providing student choice. In service of this goal, all students entering grades 6, 7, and 8 are asked to do the following:
Read 3 texts and complete an assignment related to one of one
Students can choose from books, audiobooks or podcasts.
Select one of the texts you read (at minimum) and complete this form.
Choose one way to show your understanding/thinking about what you have read.

How can students choose books? Students can choose any books that are of interest to them! However, below are some resources to find new books by genre:
