Over 80,000 Americans engage in volunteerism and service work ever year through Americorps. There are different programs available including NCCC, FEMA Corps, and VISTA. These programs are about 9-10 months in duration and they are completely free. These federally funded programs give students experience volunteering anywhere in the country.

Students at Job Corps can live on campus or commute. This is a federally funded FREE program where students can learn a vocational skill. Students have assistance getting their driver’s license and job placement, and they are PAID during their involvement in the program. Vocational options differ from site to site but they can include: culinary arts, facilities maintenance, business, health occupations, carpentry, plumbing and security.

Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 50 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals since 1964.

At Job Corps, students have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years. In addition to helping students complete their education, obtain career technical skills and gain employment, Job Corps also provides transitional support services, such as help finding employment, housing, child care, and transportation. Dynamy Internship Year (DIY) is a domestic, long-standing gap-year program created for students ages 17-22 who want to pursue a unique, hands-on learning experience. This is a great alternative for those who are not ready to take on college or do not believe it is the right fit. At the same time, Dynamy is a great post-secondary option for students with learning differences such as ADD/ADHD.

Taking a personalized approach to learning, we provide students with a year “on”, filled with meaningful opportunities to gain real-world work experience, explore career interests, and build critical life skills before taking life’s next steps. As a result, our approach helps students build the confidence and skills critical for success in college, a career, or whatever else their future may hold!

Through The Leap we can now help both types of gap year student - the team traveller and the independent hostel hopper.

Team travellers join our volunteer programs which combine projects and adventures providing you with a dynamic travel experience, led by project co-ordinators who are passionate about what they do and are professionals in their field. They are on hand, to get everything arranged so you can hit the ground running, exploring your new surroundings and contributing from the moment you arrive without having to worry about logistics.

The team element guarantees the camaraderie of others to share the adventure together and in the background we remove the stress by helping with your travel admin. You'll have someone to turn to before, during and after your program.

The independent traveller can now join LEAP VIP – our travel advice hub which provides access to a network of amazing off-grid travel contacts and opportunities and of course helps with the covid travel rules.

Global Volunteers Complete volunteer work in the USA or worldwide.

We’ve responded to community needs throughout the USA since 1999. We currently focus our efforts on areas of extreme poverty – such as West Virginia’s Fayette County and the Blackfeet Nation in Montana. Isolated from the general public in sparsely populated states, these two communities are not well-known. The poverty observed by visitors, however, is far from the complete story. Working with grateful people as a volunteer in the USA for just one week, you learn about their unique culture and history – while providing significant community service to children and elders.

This program is based out of Woods Hole, Cape Code, and offers a wide variety of learning opportunities for students at all grade levels.

The program is affiliated with many colleges across the country.
