Visual Art

Art at the Elementary Schools

The elementary visual arts program guides students in the exploration of the elements and principles of art and design, which govern all forms of visual art. By grade 3, students will have deepened their understanding as they work with more involved elements and principals in order to depict and create specific effects in their artwork. Students are exposed to a variety of artists, art styles and techniques targeted toward creating interdisciplinary connections from one subject to another. In grades 4 and 5, students continue to build on both technical skills and creative processes. Students are guided toward their personal artistic discoveries.
