All Millis staff have a gmail account associated with their Millis Schools Google account, so our Gmail accounts are already active and may be used at any time. Staff Gmail addresses are username@millisschools.org
Millis Public Schools is moving to Gmail because First Class is no longer going to be hosted for us after June 30, 2019. Our plan is to begin using Gmail right after the school year is done, and for a couple of weeks staff emails from First Class will be forwarded to Gmail. After June 30th, staff will be able to login to FC to retrieve information, but email will not be sent or received through First Class after June 30th.
First Class emails have @millisps.org for the address. This address will no longer be used after June 30th. Staff will have a few months to login to First Class to retrieve emails and documents from folders. After December, 2019, staff may contact Technology Services to access archived emails.
The district will post messages on the school websites and social media. In addition, staff may want to modify their email signature to include their Gmail address. Staff may also want to add a message to emails indicating their Gmail address will be the correct address to use.
The goal is to have staff comfortable using gmail by the end of December. We'll spend the fall and early winter providing workshops and help sessions at various times during the day. There will also be online learning options for those who prefer self-paced learning.
