Overview
The Human History Project is a comprehensive program for the thriving middle school student or struggling high school student, providing a worldview of historical events through patterns, analysis, and a deep understanding of cause and effect. The program encourages students to make connections, develop crucial skills for high school success, and use higher order thinking skills in an engaging journey from prehistory to the technological age we live in.
Program Design
The program is designed to provide students with a global perspective and understanding of history, leading to an increased awareness of global and currect events. The program does not focus on the recollection of names, dates, and locations; but instead, revolves around the student's ability to perform research tasks in order to find out more details about events and figures, in addition to developing essential skills that are used throughout all subject areas, such as analysis and critical thinking skills.
The entire syllabus progresses in a near-chronological order, beginning with a glimpse of the prehistoric ages followed by the rise of ancient civilizations, the middle ages, the renaissance, revolutions of thought and development, wars around the world, and ends with the technological age we live in. The program encourages students to link history to their own lives and engage in active class discussions.
The program consists of eight units. If taught in a standard middle school with strong English speakers, it is designed to be completed over the span of three years. Each unit is embedded into the website in a Google Slides and can be used in the classroom (screen or projector) and can also be used easily in online classes. The material can be shared with students by simply providing them with the correct link or sharing the page with them online. Sections have links to Google Form section assessments that are automatically marked and returned to students. Units include comprehension activities, engaging projects, video links, and some video lessons.
Ease of Use
The entire program can be accessed and used on this website. There are no complicated tech requirements or confusing paths. All you need to do is follow the progress of the program. History and Literature teacher with more than 15 years of experience in teaching, subject coordination, school management, and educational publishing. Her experience spans three different continents with a variety of age groups in different areas of education.
With close to 20 years of experience in the field of education, teaching experience on 4 continents, and a passion for inspiring young minds, Zoe Miller has dedicated her life to providing students with the skills for success in every subject she has taught. She has spent the past decade studying and experimenting with different approaches and techniques used with students and how they can be best applied to guide students through reaching their full potential.
Zoe's love for world cultures and urge to teach in different countries led to her travels, where she taught literature and history to students of English as a second language from different backgrounds. Eventually becoming a school principal, she was able to carefully observe the obstacles students face when transitioning from one level to the next, making her an excellent candidate for one of the world’s leading educational publishers, where she managed a variety of educational programs and products in addition to their development for specific markets and cultures. After acquiring the experience in syllabus and textbook production, she decided to return to teaching where she can work directly with students, enabling them to succeed throughout their educational journey, while continuing to work on the creation of her own schemes of work and pedagogy.
During her years in education, Zoe has worked with students aged 5 to 20 and above in a variety of programs and curricula. In 2022, Zoe launched the free beta version of The Human History Project, which was used in over 100 classrooms worldwide. She spent the following 3 years collecting feedback, making improvements, and bringing together the full force of what she had created over the course of a decade to launch the full version of The Human History Project in the spring of 2025. In the same year, she co-founded FLUJO & MILLERSKILLS LTD. and currently lives in London where she dedicates her time to supporting educators around the world.
