Dear Parents and Guardians,

My name is Jackie Reduto and I am excited to report that I will be your child’s reading teacher this year!  Your child will soon be utilizing an innovative reading program from Scholastic entitled Read 180.  Read 180 is based upon research dating back to the 1980’s and has been proven effective in boosting children’s reading skills.  In our Read 180 class, your child will develop greater reading proficiency by:

• participating in whole, small group, and individualized reading instruction to enhance comprehension 

• using software that specifically identifies your child’s areas of weakness and provides opportunities for practice in needed areas such as phonics, vocabulary and/or reading fluency

• building essential literacy skills for college and career readiness

It is my goal to boost your child’s confidence in the hopes that your child will want to read more independently.  By reading each day, your child will become successful and will ultimately develop a lifelong love of reading.  My Google Classroom is separate from the one your child just joined with his teacher. Please encourage your shild to join my class if he has not already done so.
