Mrs. April Powell brings 26 years of dedicated experience to special education, touching countless lives through her commitment to helping students reach their full potential. A proud graduate of Valdosta State University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in special education, Mrs. Powell further enhanced her expertise with a Master's degree from Georgia Southwestern University in the field of learning disabilities.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Powell spent a decade as the High School Tennis Coach, combining her passion for education with her love of athletics.
April shares her life with her husband of 30 years, Todd Powell. Together, they've raised two successful children: their daughter Grace, who serves as an ER nurse, and their son Cody, who is the Miller County/UGA Extension Agent. She beams with pride when speaking of her grandson Wyatt and eagerly anticipates the arrival of her granddaughter, Maggie Laine.
When not in the classroom, Mrs. Powell can be found enjoying her favorite pastimes: playing tennis, competing in pickleball matches, watching college softball, searching for unique finds while antiquing, relaxing at the beach, or unwinding with a good book. She is also passionate about her mission work through Mission Mbale. Mission Mbale is a non-profit Christian-based organization that is dedicated to sharing the hope and love found in Jesus Christ one child at a time.
Her extensive experience, combined with her warm personality and diverse interests, makes Mrs. Powell a valued member of our educational community, bringing both expertise and enthusiasm to her role as a special education co-teacher at Miller County High School.
