The deadline to register to vote in the November 7 General Election is October 17, 2023.
If you have recently moved to Essex County from another county in the state, or from another state, you must register to vote in Essex County.
In New Jersey, any voter can vote by mail. You do not need a reason to vote by mail. Will you be out of town or can't get to the polls? Simply vote by mail.

Return your ballot in one of the following three ways:
1. Mail: It must be postmarked on or before 8:00 p.m. Election Day and be received by your county’s Board of Elections on or before 6 days after Election Day.
2. Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place it in one of your county’s secure ballot drop boxes by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Secure Ballot Drop Box locations
3. Board of Elections Office: Deliver it in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. County Election Officials
