Honors Art I Drawing /2DHonors Art I Gallery 

Year Course - Level of Instruction: ACC - Credit Value: 5.0

Prerequisite: Departmental Recommendation and Drawing Assessment 

Open to students in grades 9-12

Honors Art I-Drawing/2D is a rigorous year-long course appropriate for students who are serious about developing a high level of skill in realism. Observational drawing is the cornerstone of this course. Keeping a sketchbook/journal is required for work done in and out of class throughout the year. Projects will require time spent at home on a regular basis. The course will touch upon a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastel, pen & ink, watercolor, and printmaking. The course is designed to prepare students for portfolio development and application to AP Studio Art I. Students must keep a sketchbook for homework and develop a digital presentation for all work created in the course throughout the year. Students who do not enroll in AP Studio Art I may progress to Honors Art II Painting /2D or other art courses to continue their artistic journey.

Honors Art II Painting /2D

Year Course - Level of Instruction: ACC - Credit Value: 5.0Honors Art II Gallery 

Prerequisites: Honors Art I-Drawing/2D and Departmental Recommendation

Open to students in grades 10-12

Honors Art II Painting /2D is a rigorous year-long course appropriate for students who are serious about expanding their artistic abilities. Observational painting and color theory & application are the focus of this course. With an emphasis on color, students will explore a variety of media including acrylic paint, watercolor, ink, and gouache, as well as, pastel and printmaking. Projects often require time spent at hHonors Art II Gallery ome. Course assignments are intended to yield portfolio quality work. Opportunities for artistic focus and self-expression expand as the student progresses. Students must keep a sketchbook for homework and develop a digital presentation for all work created in the course throughout the year.

Honors Art III Portfolio /2D

Year Course - Level of Instruction: ACC - Credit Value: 5.0

Prerequisite: Honors Art II Painting /2D and Departmental Recommendation

Open to students in grades 11-12Honors Art III Gallery 

Honors Art III Portfolio /2D is a course designed for the advanced art student who wishes to continue to develop their artistic skills. Students choose a concentration theme and creatively design and develop their own projects. Students choose the media they wish to work with, while demonstrating their technHonors Art III Gallery ical skills and creative independence. Students research artists and subjects of personal interest for inspiration. Benchmark deadlines and frequent individual and group critiques. Students must keep a sketchbook for homework and develop a digital presentation for all work created in the course throughout the year.
