PROBLEM
Material Costs have risen and are not expected to return to pre-spike levels.
Material Waste has become more critical to maintain margins as a result.
Labor Shortages are becoming more acute, leading to production delays and rising costs.
Labor Quality has been reduced as more experienced framers leave the industry.
Uncoordinated Drawings cause costly delays and rework.
SOLUTION
Automated Framing Layout driven by coordinated 3D BIM models.
Framing Detailing printed directly onto top & bottom plates.
Precut & Pre-nailed Components reducing framing schedules.
Model-Accurate Quantities instilling confidence in lumber purchasing.
3D Modeling ensuring the drawing packages are coordinated first, digitally.
Reducing Waste by eliminating costly onsite rework and over-buying.
Partners John Hunter and Bill Millen founded MillBuilt to solve the issues of waste, labor availability, and production quality for multiunit wood framers in the Texas market and beyond.
John currently currently owns and operates MultiLevel Framing (www.multilevelframing.com) in Austin TX. He has realized that a pre-cut and marked component facility is desperately needed in this market due to the declining skilled labor base and the need to increase efficiencies on the job site. John serves as head of operations for MillBuilt in Texas.
Bill Millen holds a B.S. in Construction Management and has broad experience in commercial and multi-family residential construction and development. Bill serves as head of digital design.
