Leslie Anson earned her BS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Middle School Mathematics from the University of Delaware and a MSEd in Special Education from SUNY New Paltz. Ms. Anson has been teaching middle school mathematics for 15 years, and was the recipient of the 2020 Presidential Award of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teaching. She has also been selected into the NYS Master Teacher program allowing her to collaborate with fellow educators to advance STEM instruction and support high-quality teaching across New York State. Currently, she is teaching 6th and 7th grade mathematics as well as an Academic Interventions Services class. Ms. Anson has been advisor to the Wellness Club and the National Junior Honor Society, and has been a member of many committees at the middle school, such as the Building Leadership Team, the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support Team, and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports committee. Ms. Anson coached softball and soccer for Millbrook and tennis outside of the school district. She loves to connect math and the community by bringing in guest speakers and having students participate in a math night at the local grocery store. She has a love for statistics and finds excitement in connecting it to her life. In her free time, Ms. Anson loves to run, cycle, and be outside in the sunshine.
