Welcome Our Newest Blazer!
Thank you to Terry Joshi, Trustee of the Marilyn R. Appel Estate, for the donation of the “”Blazer” horse sculpture originally created by artist Tomas Fernandez, and thank you to Chris Hall and Stronghold Industries for donating the labor to update, transport, and install the sculpture on our main campus. This steel fabricated sculpture was originally created for Ms. Appel and traveled with her for many years as she moved around the country. We are so grateful that her beloved sculpture has found a new home with us, overlooking our main campus and athletic fields representing our proud Blazers for many years to come.
Ms. Anson's Math Students @ Maronas
On November 13th and 14th, students in Ms. Anson's math lab took a field trip to Marona's Market here in Millbrook. They spent time practicing their math skills using items in the market.
Thank you to Marona's for having them.

On Friday, November 15th MMS held its first Student of the Quarter breakfast. Six middle school students were nominated by their grade level teachers for showing their commitment to the principals of P.E.A.C.E (Purpose, Ethics, Acceptance, Community & Evolution) Congratulations to Robert Sosa, Emma Bunga, Adriana Chowdhury, Axel Asplund, Theo Chi and Emma Lown. Continue to show that Blazer pride!
Public Librarians Visit MMS
On November 7th, as part of a collaborative project between our library media specialist, Cathie Morton, and our ELA 7 teacher, Kim Guley, the 7th grade ELA classes met in our school library media center with the Millbrook Public Library Youth Services librarians. Prior to the visit, all 7th grade families were invited to complete public library card applications for their 7th graders. During the visits, students received their library cards and were led through an interactive orientation to the many offerings available through the public library and the Mid-Hudson library system. Students practiced logging in and searching for resources and online books before browsing the middle school's library for their monthly book exchange books.
Pickleball @ MMS
Pickleball is sweeping the nation and at MMS we have been ahead of the curve. We not only play Pickleball, but we have the best paddles around thanks to First Strike Pickleball!

A note from our
Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services
Each school year a sample of public-school districts are selected to participate in Student Weight Status Category Reporting in accordance with New York State Education Law sections 903 and 904. This school year, Millbrook Central School District has been selected to report this data to the New York State Department of Health. This information is used by health officials to design programs supporting healthy lifestyles for our children.
Weight status category information is retrieved from the health examination forms collected the prior school year. MCSD will be reporting the weight status category information of our Kindergarten, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students (last year’s Pre-K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grade students). Only summary information is sent without any specific identifying factors included (your child’s name, date of birth, etc. will not be included in the submitted survey information). You may choose not to have your child’s weight status category information included in the summary data submitted to the department of health.
If you do not wish to have your child’s weight status category information included as part of this year’s survey, please contact your student’s School Nurse by telephone or email before December 16, 2024. Please note, if we do not hear from you prior to December 16, 2024, your child’s information will be included in the survey.
Health Tip of the Month
What a Veteran's Day @ MMS
Annual Veterans Day Breakfast Assembly
Millbrook Middle School
One of the finest traditions we have at Millbrook Middle School is honoring our Veterans! Our local Veterans sat down with our 8th grade students and spoke about their experiences serving our country. After speaking in small groups and enjoying breakfast, our Veterans were welcomed into a jam packed auditorium of cheering middle schoolers. Mr. Carbone led the festivities by reminding students of the many freedoms that they enjoy daily, thanks to the service of our troops on stage and abroad. Students from all grades then took turns coming up to the microphone and asking questions of our panel of Veterans. As always, we thank them for their service and for taking the time out to continue to educate our students on the value of service locally and globally.
