May 2026
MHS Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already entering the final stretch of the school year! May is always a busy and exciting time at the high school, filled with opportunities for our students to showcase their hard work, celebrate accomplishments, and finish the year strong.
We’re looking forward to a number of important events in the weeks ahead. AP Exams will take place from May 5th through May 12th, and we are incredibly proud of the many students who have challenged themselves with these rigorous courses. We wish them the very best and encourage plenty of rest and preparation during this time.
On May 6th, we will recognize our outstanding faculty and staff with a Staff Appreciation Lunch, a small way to thank them for the dedication, care, and commitment they show our students each and every day. Special thanks to our PTO for helping make this day possible!
Our Spring Arts Festival will be held on May 13th, showcasing the incredible talents of our student musicians and artists. We encourage all families to join us in celebrating the creativity and hard work of our students.
We will also host our Spring Blood Drive on May 15th, providing students and staff with an opportunity to give back and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Later in the month, our seniors will enjoy their Senior Trip to Lake Compounce on May 28th, a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate together as they approach graduation.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a strong and successful finish to the school year!

College & Career Fair at MHS!
We were proud to host our annual College & Career Fair at Millbrook High School, bringing together over 70 college representatives and career professionals for an exciting day of exploration and opportunity. Our students had the invaluable chance to speak directly with admissions counselors, learn about a wide range of post-secondary pathways, and engage with experts from diverse industries.
Events like this reflect our commitment to preparing students not just for graduation—but for life beyond our walls. Thank you to Mr. Chanowsky, our staff, volunteers, and community partners who helped make the day a success, and to our students for showing up with curiosity, professionalism, and purpose.
National Library Month
Some exciting news from the Library Media Center this month! Our Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Morton, was awarded a Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley Excellence in Education Grant to purchase a 3D printer for the HS Library MakerSpace! Students are already designing projects to be printed, and we are thrilled about this new addition. Additionally, this year National Library Week was celebrated from April 20-24 with the theme "Find Your Joy" at the library. Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), this annual event highlights the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in communities. “Find Your Joy,” is an invitation for people of all backgrounds to explore and discover what sparks joy in them at the library. Whether it is working on homework, reading on the beanbags, crafting something in the MakerSpace or meeting with friends for a game of chess at lunch, there is something for everyone. Here at the High School we held a daily library trivia contest on the morning announcements, and special displays in the library.
MHS recognized by Project Adam
With Sudden Cardiac Arrest, every moment counts. Project ADAM recognizes schools, sporting programs, and community sites that are Heart Safe. MMS has worked to connect the resources needed to respond during those first critical minutes after a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. We are so proud to be recognized by Project Adam as a school prepared to keep our community safe!
Project ADAM has saved lives, and can do so in our community as well.
National Professional Administrative Assistant Day!
On National Professional Administrative Assistant Day, we proudly celebrate the incredible dedication, organization, and hard work of our administrative team. Their support is the backbone of our school community, and we are truly grateful for all they do each and every day to keep our building running smoothly. Thank you for your commitment, positivity, and care — we appreciate you, Mrs. Mattes and Mrs. Kascsak (and, special thanks to our students participating in their picture)!
ENL World Cup Night!!!
Thank you to our ENL team who helped make our ENL World Cup Night a huge success! Students from different grade levels competed in exciting indoor soccer matches against their parents, showing incredible teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit. It was a wonderful evening of fun, community, and friendly competition!

At Millbrook Central School District, we recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health. Throughout the month, we are committed to raising awareness, reducing stigma, and providing resources to support the emotional well-being of all students. A note from our
Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services
Dear families,
You should have received an email with the subject line "Important Parent Survey" from my office.
Our school district is currently participating in the New York State Education Department (NYSED) State Performance Plan Indicator 8 (Parent Involvement) Survey. This survey is designed to gather feedback from families of students receiving special education services about their experiences working with schools..
Your input is extremely important. The results help NYSED and school districts understand how well schools are partnering with families and identify ways to improve services and outcomes for students with disabilities.
The survey:
Consists of 13 multiple-choice questions
Takes approximately 15 minutes to complete
Can be completed once per child receiving special education services
Is confidential and individual responses are not shared with the school district.
You may complete the survey online using the link below:
Parent Survey
You should have received a Student Survey ID with your email.
If you prefer a paper copy with a pre-paid envelope be sent home, please let me know.
Please complete the survey as soon as possible. Your participation plays a vital role in helping us improve how we support students and families.
Please keep in mind that if you are one of the families that filled out the survey during parent teacher conferences, your survey ID may not work.
If you have any questions or need assistance accessing or completing the survey, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your time and continued partnership.
