March 2026
MHS Families,
As we welcome the arrival of spring on March 20th and hope for warmer weather, we have many exciting events to look forward to this month!
We kick off March with the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony on March 4th, celebrating our students' dedication to scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
From March 13th to March 16th, our Model UN team will attend its 23rd annual convention, proudly representing India and Argentina. Our delegates have been working diligently, researching global topics such as immigration, climate change, poverty, sustainable development, and disarmament. We wish them the best as they participate in this enriching experience!
On March 25th, we will showcase the incredible talent of our music students during the Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) Concert. This event is always a highlight, celebrating the importance of music education in our schools.
Finally, we will cap off the month with a highly anticipated tradition—our annual Senior Trip to Disney on March 26th! This unforgettable experience marks a special milestone for our seniors as they make lasting memories with their classmates.
We look forward to an exciting and eventful March! As always, thank you for your continued support.

On February 15, 2026, we celebrated National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day, a day established by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) to recognize the dedication and hard work of school-based law enforcement officers. Here at MHS, we are incredibly grateful for Deputy Freer, who goes above and beyond to ensure the safety, well-being, and success of our students and staff.
Deputy Freer is more than just a presence in our hallways—his care and commitment to our studens and staff do not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for the sense of safety and trust he helps create each day. His is simply the greatest!
Please join us in thanking Deputy Freer for his dedication and service to our school and district. We appreciate all that he does to make our school a safer and better place!
National School Counseling Week is celebrated annually during the first full week of February. School counselors make a difference every day, supporting students in their academic, social-emotional, and career journeys. Thank you Mr. Chanowsky and Mrs. Prince for all you do for our students!
STEAM Fair
Parents, friends, district administrators and teachers filled the middle school for our annual STEAM Fair. A big congratulations to all of our scientists who came out to the STEAM Fair to showcase their love of inquiry in science. Mr. J. Miller led the fair with great help from our local judges. Health Tip of the Month
The New York State Office of mental Health (OMH) recently launched the statewide ‘Be Well’ campaign to help people understand the importance of mental wellness and the impacts of stress and trauma. The Be Well website gives New Yorkers accessible tips and free ways to improve their well-being. This campaign features ads and a website offering simple, straight-forward information on mental wellness, including:
· Using breathing to calm and reset.
· Practicing mindfulness and gratitude.
· Fostering resilience.
· Finding strategies to cope.
· Understanding how stress affects our bodies.
· Learning about the impact of trauma.
The site is user-friendly, available in multiple languages, and provides direct links to immediate crisis supports. Ads have been running in English and Spanish in nearly every medium throughout the state, including on social media, digital platforms, public transit, billboards, geofencing, radio, and on television – both cable and streaming services.
Please help promote this campaign by sharing it with your colleagues and remember to Be Well!
