November at Alden Place
November at Alden Place
Dear Alden Place Families,
As we move deeper into the fall, our teachers are building on the strong relationships they established at the start of the year to create rigorous learning experiences. Photos of many of these moments are in today’s newsletter, capturing the joy and energy of these special occasions.
Spirit Week and Pink-Out Day brought even more color and enthusiasm to our halls, as students and staff came together to show support for one another and for causes that matter to our community. At the left, you'll see the students from each grade who were voted the pinkest of the pink during Pink-Out Day! Our third graders also enjoyed a hands-on science experience exploring local ecosystems during their field trip to Thompson Pond, a wonderful opportunity to bring learning to life outdoors.
This month, fifth‑grade students took part in our first session with the Council on Addiction Prevention & Education (CAPE), an organization dedicated to helping students make healthy choices and set personal goals, led by Dora Celestino. They also celebrated Red Ribbon Day by wearing red to support healthy choices and participating in the poster contest “Life is a Puzzle: Solve It Drug Free.”
A few friendly reminders as the days start to shorten and cool: please remember to send your child to school with a warm coat so they can enjoy recess comfortably. And with the time change coming up this weekend, remember to set your clocks back one hour.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue creating meaningful learning experiences for our students while celebrating the many ways they grow and thrive each day. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school community.
Warmly,
Andrew Cedermark

Music Centers in Action
In Mrs. Donaghey's music class, students are exploring creativity through a variety of engaging centers. Some are collaborating on original compositions using Chrome Music Lab, while others are following piano tutorials or learning familiar melodies like “Mary Had a Little Lamb” using both standard and iconic notation. To close each class, students have the opportunity to share or perform what they’ve created and offer thoughtful feedback to their peers.
Grade 3 Goes to Thompson Pond
Thank you to our third grade teachers for chaperoning our first formal field trip to Thompson Pond. As part of their science curriculum, our third graders explored this glacial kettle pond in Pine Plains, now a stunning natural area surrounded by forests, wetlands, and meadows. They enjoyed views of Stissing Mountain and the vibrant fall landscape while learning about ecosystems, habitats, and the diverse plants and animals that call this unique environment home.
Congratulations to our
Students of the Month!
Each month, our educators nominate one student per grade for each core value. All receive special recognition during our Blue Ribbon Blazer ceremony. This month's recipients have their names placed on the wall of our main lobby, and will have certificates sent home. Congratulations, and thank you to our teachers for recognizing students' excellence!
