Below are instructions about how to complete the Year 9 Options Form for subjects beginning in September 2026. Please make sure to have a full discussion with your child, and that you read and understand the instructions before completing the form. Once completed your child will need to check their school email for confirmation.
The deadline for submitting options is 12pm on Friday 13th March 2026. You may edit your responses at any time up until this deadline.
Attitudes to learning, progress and behaviour in the subject will be looked at prior to acceptance onto a course; it does not work on a first-come, first-served basis.
Pupils will only be able to complete the options form whilst logged into their school account.
INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the subject Information pages on the virtual options site before making your choices.
Please choose one subject from each option block (i.e. 3 in total), plus one reserve per block.
Where there is a restricted combination of two subjects it is clearly marked in the subject name, e.g. Fashion and Textiles & Product Design, you can only choose one of these subjects, not both.
Choose 1 reserve per block - your reserve must be different to your other choices and may be used if one of your chosen subjects does not run.
Courses will begin in September 2026 - changes to options may be possible for the first half term only.
Please note: subjects may be combined or withdrawn should pupil uptake not be viable.
If you have any queries please contact Mr Peters.
The deadline for choosing your options is 12pm on Friday 13th March 2026.
Once all options have been collated every pupil will have an "options interview" to discuss the suitability of their chosen subjects.
Choosing your options does not necessarily mean you will be able to study these subjects. Some subjects may not be viable and withdrawn, other subjects may not be suitable due to your progress or attitude to learning.
Along with options subjects pupils will also study English Language and Literature, Mathematics and Numeracy, The Sciences (Double Award unless opting for Triple Science), Core Cymraeg, Core RVE, Welsh Baccalaureate and Games.
