This is our second year of Garden To Table at Milford School. We are very excited to continue on this new journey of planting, growing and cooking with our own delicious, fresh produce.
Garden to Table is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn essential life long skills in both the kitchen and garden environment. They quickly begin to understand the time and effort required to set up and maintain a productive garden as they take responsibility for growing their own vegetables. The kitchen sessions also enable a considerable amount of learning. The children's knowledge of utensils, equipment, safety procedures and food grows rapidly and continues throughout the year as they experiment with new and exciting recipes in each session.
In order for our sessions to run successfully, we do require the time and support from parent and grandparent volunteers in the sessions. We have full-time kitchen and garden specialists who run the sessions and your child's classroom teacher will also be present, however, your assistance is also essential! At the end of each session you're encouraged to stay and enjoy the meal together with the class.
