Telehealth
Some Speech Language services can be delivered via Telehealth consultations. Telehealth is the delivery of SLP services using interactive technologies such as audio, video or other electronic communications between the SLP practitioner and you the client/patient who are not in the same physical location. It has the benefit of easier access to care and the convenience of meeting from a location of my choosing.
Just let me know if this is a service you are interested in and I'll be happy to explain how it works and answer any questions you have. The three most common questions are:
1. What equipment do I need?
To participate in Telehealth appointments, you will need the following:
A computer (laptop or desktop).
Newer devices (purchased in the last two years) will be better equipped to provide Telehealth appointments.
It is strongly recommended that the device has a 2.5 GHz processor and 4 GB of RAM.
Your computer needs to have an integrated or external microphone.
Your computer also needs to have an integrated or external web camera.
Or mobile device.
We strongly recommend using latest iOS and/or Android versions.
A reliable internet connection. For optimal results, a reliable, high-speed internet connection with a bandwidth of at least 10 Mbps will minimize connection issues and provide the best quality.
On the web app, updated versions of Chrome or Firefox browsers are strongly recommended.
We strongly recommend a minimum dedicated 1Mbps down per downloaded stream, as well as 600Kbps up per uploaded stream to maintain a stable video connection. For 720p HD video calls: 2.6 Mbps down is recommended and for 1080p HD video calls: 3.8Mbps down is recommended.
2. Do I need to install anything?
No, you will be able to easily & effortlessly join the session by simply clicking a link that I provide.
You will not have to:
download or install software or extensions
enter a password or ID to access the session
create an account or login into an account
NOTE: There are Android and iOS apps available for a better mobile device experience. There are also additional instructions on how to join the conference call if needed.
3. I am not tech savvy; how do I know if my computer meets the minimum specifications?
The easiest way is to conduct a pre-call test by clicking on the button below. It is an all-in-one automated check for connectivity, media access, and quality and will let you know if you are telehealth ready.
