Racial literacy is the ability to read, recast, and resolve racially stressful encounters. This literacy can be increased via racial socialization strategies repeatedly practiced within a safe context (affection, protection, and correction) utilizing intellectual, emotional, and behavioral skills that protect and affirm racial self-efficacy (RSE), recast racial stress, and negotiate racial conflicts.

The Black Mamas Matter Alliance has launched the first annual Black Maternal Health Week from April 11 to April 17, 2018. The Black Mamas Matter Alliance has a mission "We envision a world where Black mamas have the rights, respect, and resources to thrive before, during and after pregnancy." As part of this week they have published a toolkit which includes online activities and webinars, graphics to download and sample posts.
