This workshop will focus on plants within the Cyperaceae (sedge family). The workshop will take place at 1614 Kamps Rd, Fulton, MO 65251. The second day will take place at the remnant Tucker Prairie Conservation Area near the Little Dixie Conservation Area.
Through this workshop, some of the topics you will learn include:
- what makes a sedge different from a grass (Poaceae) and a rush (Juncaceae)
- the anatomy and terminology of sedge
- distinguishing between species and genera
- how to collect and key sedge
- how to use a dichotomous key in figuring out what genus/species you have both from pressed specimens and live specimens.
