Intensive Interaction is a relational approach used to support connection and communication with children and young people with a range of additional support needs particularly autism and communication needs. It emphasizes building attuned relationships through meaningful and motivating connections, developing joint attention, turn-taking and strengthening communication. The approach is flexible and can be used in various settings and environments.

This 30min training session has been created to share information about how to recognise pupils with language difficulties and their potential impacts. There is a particular focus on Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), which is a Neurodevelopmental condition that affects 7% of the population. DLD continues to be relatively unknown. We hope that this session will help to raise your awareness of DLD and provide you with universal strategies that you can use in your classroom to support children with language difficulties. This session can be viewed individually, in small groups or as a whole staff team.

provides up to date information which can be adapted to suit the local context
support individual educators to plan their own professional learning
The Pupil Support Staff Framework has been developed to help pupil support staff access and engage in their own professional development. It is separated into 3 levels depending on the amount of support the young people you work with require.
Informed: For staff who support all children and young people who require additional support at the universal stage of education
Skilled: For staff who support children and young people who require targeted support such as those with a complexity of need
Enhanced: For staff who support children and young people who require targeted support such as those with severe complex needs.
