Professional Learning

Our Aim:

In Midlothian, we want to make sure that high quality professional learning doesn't just happen by chance.  We want to make sure that everyone has opportunities to have high quality professional learning experiences often and continuously throughout their careers, because high quality professional learning can make the world of difference to our pupils and bring us as practitioners a serious amount of joy in the process.

We will ensure that all professional learning:

• Builds and deepens knowledge

• Highlights and connects back to national, regional and local drivers for improvement

• Encourages enquiry and collaboration through developing techniques and tying theory back to practice

• Is accessible to all colleagues, through multiple formats and opportunities

• Utilises the knowledge and experience of our leaders and practitioners

• Is developed in collaboration with leaders from across schools and our broader services.
