What will I Learn?
You will build on the content and skills from S1 and S2 RME.
You will develop your RMPS skills through learning about a Religion, considering an issue of Morality and debating a Philosophical question.
What skills with I develop?
Literacy skills; you will be making notes and writing extended responses.
Arguments and debates; you will be discussing and expressing your opinions with evidence.
Build on the skills you have been developing in S1 and S2:
Knowledge and Understanding → showing what you know
Analysing → making links between ideas
Evaluating → making judgements

Is there is an Exam?
There is no end of year formal assessment in S3. The work that you produce throughout the year will be assessed and will give you a clear idea of how you are progressing.
What comes next?
In S4, you can either take National 4 or National 5 RMPS depending on your progress in S1 - S3.
Where can this take me?
RMPS requires good communication skills which are relevant for a wide range of careers and courses.

Religion: Buddhism → learn about the life of the Buddha, what Buddhists believe and their practices e.g. what do Buddhists do today
Morality: Religion, Medicine and the Human Body (medical ethics) → think about the value of life, use of embryos, end-of-life including palliative care and assisted dying
Philosophy: The Existence of God → the nature of God and arguments for and against the existence of God.
What skills with I develop?
Literacy skills; you will be making notes and writing extended responses.
Arguments and debates; you will be discussing and expressing your opinions with evidence.
Build on the skills you have been developing in BGE:
Knowledge and Understanding → showing what you know
Analysing → making links between ideas
Evaluating → making judgements
What could be helpful?
Commitment and positive engagement in BGE.
Having an open mind and a willingness to express your opinions.
If in S4, ideally you will be working towards achieving National 5 English.
Being able to write in sentences and paragraphs.
Is there is an Exam?
Yes. There is a formal exam at the end of the year and an Assignment which is prepared for and then written up under exam conditions, with notes.
Question Paper - 80 Marks - 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Assignment- 20 Marks - 1 hour.
What comes next?
National 5 RMPS can lead to Higher RMPS.
National 5 RMPS can also lead to any Social Subject.
Where can this take me?
It can take you anywhere that you may, for example, work with people or research.

What will I Learn?
Religion: Buddhism→learn about the life of the Buddha, what Buddhists believe and their practices e.g. what do Buddhists do today
Morality: Religion, Medicine and the Human Body (medical ethics)→discussion surrounding the beginning of life and embryos, organ donation and end of life including palliative care and euthanasia
Philosophy: Suffering and evil→who is responsible for the suffering in the world? Is it humans? Is it God?

Paper 1 - 60 Marks - 2 hours 15 minutes
Paper 2 - 20 Marks - 45 minutes
Assignment- 30 Marks - 1 hour 30 minutes.
