What will I Learn?
You will develop your knowledge of the language by increasing your vocabulary, knowledge of grammar and how to use it in written and oral situations.
You will also learn about the customs and culture in the country.

What skills with I develop?
You will develop the skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Talking in Spanish.
This includes translating, writing in Spanish, and conversing with others in Spanish. You will also develop the skill of Listening and understanding Spanish speakers.
What could be helpful?
Being open minded and curious about other cultures is helpful, as is a willingness to give things a try and not be afraid to make mistakes.
Is there is an Exam?
There is no formal assessment in S3 but your teacher will assess the work you produce throughout the year.
This will give you a clear idea of how you are progressing.
What comes next?
In S4, you can either take National 4 or National 5 Spanish, depending on progress in S1-S3.
National 4 is assessed in school with no final exam.
The N5 course has a final SQA exam, an internally assessed Talk element and an Assignment.
Where can this take me?
This course can lead to National 5 Spanish, Higher and Advanced Higher.
There are many careers in which an additional language is a significant advantage.

Is there is an Exam?
No. Your Reading, Writing, Listening and Talking skills are assessed in two main units:
Reading and Listening are assessed in the Understanding Language unit
Talking and Writing skills are assessed in the Using Language unit
You will also complete an assignment. You teacher will assess your work internally.
What comes next?
A pass in National 4 Spanish can lead to National 5 Spanish.
Where can this take me?
This can open up opportunities to study a language at college or university.
