The objective of middle school PE Frisbee golf is to learn and practice basic disc golf skills, including throwing and putting, while emphasizing accuracy and good sportsmanship.
Use a disc golf course with marked tee-off areas and numbered target baskets (usually called "holes").
Students should use frisbee golf discs designed for throwing accuracy.
Games can be played in rounds, with each round consisting of a set number of holes, typically 9 or 18.
Starting Play: The game begins at the first tee-off area, marked by a tee marker. The player with the lowest score from the previous hole goes first, and the rest follow in order.
Scoring: The objective is to complete each hole in as few throws (strokes) as possible. The player with the lowest score at the end of the game wins.
Tee-Off: Players start each hole with a tee-off throw. The player stands behind the tee marker and throws toward the target basket, aiming to reach it in as few throws as possible.
Fairway Throws: After the tee-off, players take turns throwing from where their disc landed on the fairway, continuing until they successfully complete the hole.
Putting: When players are close to the target basket, typically within 10 feet, they engage in "putting." The objective is to successfully throw the disc into the basket with as few attempts as possible.
Obstacles: Players must navigate natural obstacles, such as trees and terrain, as they move along the fairway.
Out of Bounds: A designated boundary line or marker may define out-of-bounds areas. If a player's disc lands out of bounds, they add a penalty stroke and continue play from the nearest in-bounds spot.
Mulligans: Depending on the rules, students may be allowed a limited number of "mulligans" (extra throws) during the round.
Safety: Emphasize safety by maintaining a safe distance from other players while throwing and retrieving discs.
Courtesy: Promote good sportsmanship by being courteous to other players and maintaining a steady pace of play.
Game Ending: The game ends when all players have completed the designated number of holes for the round.
Winning: The player with the lowest total score (fewest strokes) at the end of the round or game is the winner.
