The object of the game is to play one-on-one and rally/volley the birdie back and forth across the net and return it to the opponent’s court in such a way that the opponent can’t return the birdie.
Other than the serve, the birdie may be hit in any manner (underhand, overhand, side arm, etc.)
On the serve, the birdie must be hit with an underhand swing. THIS MUST BE A PENDULUM SWING. THE TOP OF THE PADDLE MUST STAY DOWN.
A point is awarded to a player every time an opponent cannot return the birdie that is hit inside boundary lines. Boundary lines are in-bounds.
A point is awarded to an opponent every time the server starts his/her serve with both feet in front of the serving line.
A point is awarded to an opponent if the birdie goes through or under the net.
A point is awarded to an opponent if the birdie hits top of net and land on the server’s side of the net.
A point is awarded to an opponent if the server misses the birdie while attempting to serve.
The first player to score 10 wins the game. A player must win two out of three games to advance to the next round of tournament play.
Winners of the match advance to play other winners until there is a winner for each group.
One time out is allowed for each player/game. Each time out will last no longer than three minutes.
