Each team consists of 2 players (singles) or 4 players (doubles), with players standing at opposite ends of the cornhole boards.
Cornhole boards should be placed 27 feet apart (front to front) for adults and 24 feet for middle school students.
Use 8 regulation cornhole bags (4 per team). Bags should be filled with corn or synthetic material and weigh approximately 15-16 ounces.
Ensure the cornhole boards are at the proper height (approximately 12 inches at the back and 3-4 inches at the front).
The goal of the game is to score points by throwing bags onto the board or into the hole.
A bag that lands on the board scores 1 point.
A bag that goes through the hole scores 3 points.
Points are only awarded to the team with the highest score in each round, using a cancellation scoring system (subtracting the lower score from the higher score).
Players take turns throwing one bag at a time, alternating between teams.
Each player must throw from behind the front edge of the cornhole board.
After all bags have been thrown, scores are calculated and announced.
The games are timed (5-10 mins)and who ever has more points at the end of the timer will win.
A throw is considered a foul if the player steps past the front edge of the board before releasing the bag.
If a bag lands outside the boundaries of the board or goes off the side, it does not score points.
Players should remain behind the cornhole board while their teammate is throwing.
Encourage sportsmanship, and players should wait until all bags are thrown before retrieving them.
All players should shake hands and congratulate each other.
