Superintendent Communiqué

Midland PS District Vision Statement

Lead with respect, trust and courage.

Ensure an equitable, collaborative and inclusive culture.

Enable all to achieve success.

OCTOBER IS NATIONAL PRINCIPAL MONTH

Principals are among the hardest working, yet often least recognized individuals in education. Principals set the academic tone for their schools, and it is their vision, dedication, and determination that provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success. (Excerpt from nassp.org) These lines from nassp.org describe Midland Public Schools' Principals and Assistant Principals so very well!

MPS Principals and APs work many, many, many hours. These are 'jobs' that cannot be turned off at the end of the workday. These selfless MPS team members work hard to ensure that curriculum and benchmarks are followed; encourage, guide and assist students and staff; meet with parents and district administration in problem resolution; enforce discipline when needed; provide an inclusive school environment so ALL students stretch, grow, and meet their maximum potential; and the list goes on and on and on. Midland Public Schools is so fortunate to have these dedicated, hardworking Principals and Assistant Principals working very hard each and every day for the education, safety and wellbeing of our 7,600+ MPS students!

When next you see your child(ren)'s Principal and Assistant Principal, please take a moment to thank him/her for all they do each and every day for students, staff & families.

MHS Economics Invites a Special Guest

THANK YOU to CHEF JAKE from Chartwells (MPS food service provider) for coming to visit Ms. Steger's Midland High Economics classes for a "Factors of Production Pizza Party!" Not only did the students discuss the various ingredients (land factors) that were on the homemade pizzas, but Chef Jake also shared a little background information about himself and his job at MPS/Chartwells. The students had an opportunity to ask questions and interview Chef Jake. They loved his open, honest and witty personality, as well as his thin crust pizza! He also explained the supply chain issues Chartwells (and other foodservice establishments) is experiencing. THANK YOU SO MUCH, CHEF JAKE!

Bringing a smile to a neighbor's face!

As we all know, last week was Neighboring Week in our Midland community. These 1st Grade Siebert students from Ms. Sczepanski and Ms. Pierce's classes shared their artwork with a neighbor that will without a doubt bring a smile to their faces and a warm feeling that a child made this just for them.

Soft Start at Siebert Elementary

Ms. Morden's 5th Graders started this past Friday with two different kinds of "mold"ing. Their "soft start" as they began their school day was to 'mold' playdough and spell their name.

In science, Friday was the class's last day to observe their 'mold' growth with various variables. This was part of their How We Organize Ourselves IB PYP unit, as they specifically looked at the organization of food chains and webs as well as the importance of all the elements they include (producers, consumers, decomposers).
