Due to predicted weather conditions this weekend, we are rescheduling the FLL Qualifier 1 at Greathouse Elementary to February 14, 2026. It will remain at Greathouse Elementary for the new date. This change affects the Jan. 24th scheduled teams. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes anyone. The FLL Qualifier 2 at Abell Junior High is still scheduled for January 31st.
Midland ISD is proud to announce a significant expansion of its robotics programs, which will soon encompass all grades and schools within the district.
This development marks the realization of MISD's vision to implement a comprehensive PK-12 robotics program that includes FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge. These programs will nurture students in the fields of robotics, engineering and technology.
This initiative aims to achieve several key objectives:
Integration of FIRST LEGO Leagues and FIRST Tech Challenges into the robotics curriculum at all grade levels to ensure a competitive learning experience.
Consistent teacher training to provide the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively guide students in state-of-the-art robotics.
Enhance students' robotics, teamwork and problem-solving skills to empower them to develop and thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
Develop a culture of lifelong learning, innovation, and leadership through robotics education.
The Whitacre College of Engineering STEM Outreach Program will be hosting a series of commuter robotics camps this summer. At these camps, students will get to experience our different robotics programs first hand through different hands-on activities.
We are providing camps for different age groups, including 4th- 5th grade, middle school, and high school. All camps are FREE and students will receive a t-shirt for participating.
