6th Grade Social Studies
Curriculum
This year you will learn about Early Humans, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, Ancient India, and Ancient Greece!
Class Expectations
· Show respect to other people, our classroom environment, and yourself
· Do your best! This requires believing in yourself, being prepared, and always trying as hard as you can.
· Follow classroom policies as discussed in class. (hallway passes, pencil sharpening, etc)
Attendance and Grading
You are required to attend class each day, even if you have opted for fully remote virtual learning. Attendance will be taken daily. PLEASE be on time for class on remote days when you need to join Zoom. Students who do not report to class will be marked absent.
Grading:
70% Summative assignments include test, projects, announced quizzes, and research papers
30% Formative assignments include homework, classwork, exit slips, unannounced quizzes, reading assignments, any check understanding activity, study guides, rough drafts, and journals
Zoom Meeting Rules
Show up a few minutes before class time and wait to be admitted into class.
Find a quiet place free of distractions.
Stay on mute. Raise your hand when you have something to say. Then click the unmute button.
Listen while I am talking and while classmates are talking.
NO CELL PHONES! No taking pictures unless I say it is okay!
