🇯🇴 أهلا وسهلا
Renewed charm and ancient cultural heritage, Petra marks the achievement of an impressive civilisation, the Nabataean Arabs, who perfectly carved the city into its mountains.
Most of Petra monuments were carved in two layers of sandstone. These layers are referred to as “Disi Sandstone”, in the upper parts of the site, and “Umm Ishrin sandstone” below it.
Petra has lots of toilets, and has toilet blocks in the visitors center, near the theater area, and close to the museum. There's also lots of places to get something to eat, and water, like tea stalls, or cafes. There is even an entire restaurant near the museum called the Basin.
There are camels, donkeys, horse and carriages. A carriage ride from the visitor's centre to the Treasury costs around JD20 (£21/$28).
-There is a 5 star hotel at Movenpick resort.
-You arrive in Petra at the Amman airport.
-Due to the lack of child friendly activities, I don't recommend that young kids go to Petra.
