Hello 5th, 6th, and 7th Graders!
We are starting to plan for the 2026-2027 school year. At VEM, students get some choice in the classes that they take, and part of that planning process includes our current 5th, 6th, and 7th graders letting us know what special classes (6th, 7th, & 8th grade) they’d prefer to take.
Every student will still take Health and Technology, but you’ll take any combination of 2 classes from Music, Arts & Crafts, and Drama (and Painting & Drawing for 8th graders). All students will take Spanish for their foreign language.
For the 2026-2027 school year....
CURRENT 5TH GRADERS will rank their top 2 (out of 3) preferences between:

MUSIC
ART
CURRENT 6TH GRADERS will rank their top 2 (out of 3) preferences between:
DRAMA
MUSIC
ART
CURRENT 7TH GRADERS will rank their top 3 (out of 4, but you'll only get 2) preferences between:
DRAMA
MUSIC
ARTS & CRAFTS
DRAWING & PAINTING
A few things to be aware of:
Each student’s submission will be TIME-STAMPED and requests will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. Please know that requests are NOT GUARANTEED, although the earlier you submit your form, the better chance you’ll have at getting the classes that you’d prefer. Classes have a limited number of students that can take them. Additionally, a number of other factors are considered when student schedules are created.
If you change your mind after you submit your form, you MAY submit it again, but your “place in line” will move from wherever you were to the back of the line and all of your earlier requests will be deleted. YOUR LAST FORM SUBMISSION WILL BE THE ONE THAT COUNTS, so the best thing that you can do is to make sure it’s right the first time around.

The form will open and able to accept responses at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 26th and YOU MUST BE LOGGED INTO YOUR MIDDLESEX STUDENT GOOGLE ACCOUNT TO ACCESS AND SUBMIT THE FORM.

1). Can I just email my counselor, or stop in to tell you what I want to take?
Nope, sorry. We want to make sure everyone has the same chance to submit their choices, and it’s important that we have every student submit their choice the same way, so everything ends up in the same place.
2). Will I definitely get what I pick?
Usually, but not always. There are a lot of factors that go into making student schedules, and while we ask you what you want so we can put you in classes you’ll enjoy, unfortunately we can’t guarantee that every student gets exactly what they want.
3). What if I change my mind AFTER I submit the form?
You can submit another form, but remember, you’ll lose your place in line. The earlier you submit your form, the better chance you’ll have at getting the class that you want, but if you submit a second form, your first form will be deleted. We encourage you to really think about it and try to get it right the first time.
4). It says the form isn’t accepting responses
You’re early! That’s okay, but to make sure everyone had plenty of notice, the form won’t be open until 4pm on Thursday February 26th .
