Trans* and Non-Conforming Students in Housing

Welcome to the Student Services Escape Room!

Overview

Residence life looks at supporting students living on campus. They can be used to complement learning outside the classroom. This student service is important for trans* students because trans* students can have a difficult time living in the dormitories due to lack of proper facilities, being assigned roommates that make them uncomfortable, and not feeling a sense of belonging. Institutions need to create a safe living environment for all its students.

Mission and Goal

This game was created to help educate faculty and staff on the different methods that could be used to create better housing options for trans* students. It will look at different theories pertaining to trans* student development, good practices in residence life, and policy recommendations that institutions can use to make their campuses more inclusive.

Please start by reading the scenario below. Once you are done, set a timer and press the START button to begin the game. I recommend having a pen and paper and to be prepared to open multiple links on your web browser.

Good luck!
