MOP offers a wide variety of professionally led outdoor adventure trips that focus on skills building, basic ecology, and the history of the regions we inhabit. During the semester, we offer weekend day trips to provide students with an opportunity to engage in outdoor adventure. During school breaks, we offer longer expeditions to places near and far: from the Green Mountains of Vermont to the deserts of the Southwestern United States. Most of our trips are open to all and will provide all of the equipment and knowledge to participants to have a safe and fun experience. If you would like to sign up for a trip, or simply see what we have to offer, check out our courses here!
For students interested in developing their own leadership skills in the outdoors, we offer comprehensive trainings in the hard skills, group management, and frameworks of trip leading. We work closely with the student run Middlebury Mountain Club (MMC) to ensure that aspiring leaders receive the training, practice, and feedback to learn and grow as aspiring outdoor professionals. Outside of our work with the MMC, our break expeditions provide students with the knowledge and skills to engage in outdoor leadership. Lastly, we work closely with the Middview Orientation program to provide thorough instruction in the skills required to take incoming students into a wilderness setting.
